Where Enzo Fernandez would rank on Chelsea's record sales as asking price revealed

Is he worth that much?!

Enzo Fernandez was one of Chelsea's most important players this season, but it appears the club cannot stand in his way of moving on from Stamford Bridge.

The Blues endured a frustrating campaign as defeat in the FA Cup final and a 10th-place finish saw them miss out on European qualification. Fernandez, on the other hand, produced his best individual campaign since joining the club for £106.8 million in 2023.

A return of 15 goals and seven assists, including the winner against Leeds United in the FA Cup final, meant he was one of the few Chelsea players to receive credit during an abysmal season. That being said, there have also been obvious tensions building behind the scenes.

Fernandez was dropped for two matches by Liam Rosenior earlier this year after publicly hinting about a future move to Real Madrid, and now, the possibility of him leaving has become even greater.

Chelsea want £120m for Enzo Fernandez

In an attempt to leave West London, Fernandez's representatives have informed Chelsea that he wants to leave the club to join Real Madrid this summer.

Los Blancos have admired the Argentine international for a long time, and according to reports, Manchester City are also interested in the 25-year-old's signature, with Enzo Maresca closing in on his arrival at the Etihad Stadium.

Chelsea want to keep hold of their influential playmaker, but talkSPORT's Alex Crook understands that BlueCo want £120m for the midfielder. Whilst that is a profit on what they paid for him, it would be surprising if Real triggered their asking price.

Fernandez still has six years left on his lucrative contract at Stamford Bridge, putting the power in Chelsea's hands over negotiations. But that isn't always a positive, as it's clear the Blues' No. 8 is pushing for an exit, and they may have to sacrifice.

Chelsea's record sales ranked

Unsurprisingly, if BlueCo were to sanction the Argentine's exit to Real Madrid, he would become their most expensive departure by a long way.

Eden Hazard is still the most expensive sale Chelsea have made in their history, following his £89m transfer to Real Madrid in 2019. He is followed by Kai Havertz, Oscar and Alvaro Morata, who make up the top four.

Fernandez is likely to sit at the top of the pile if sold by Blue Co this summer, as they don't want to get any less than the £106.8m they bought him for three years ago.
