Chelsea are set to make lots of changes this summer as Xabi Alonso prepares to officially take charge on July 1.
A number of players are facing uncertain futures after the Blues' miserable season ended without European football, and one of the first to leave looks increasingly likely to be goalkeeper Filip Jöorgensen.
The Dane has already made it clear he wants regular first-team football and has little interest in spending another season watching from the sidelines.
Chelsea willing to let Filip Jorgensen leave
According to TEAMtalk, Alonso has given the green light for Jorgensen to leave Stamford Bridge this summer. Probably no surprise there.
Jorgensen arrived from Villarreal two years ago in a deal worth £20.7 million. He came to west London with a decent reputation but hasn't done enough to make himself the side's long-term number one.
And his chances of securing regular football looks even more difficult than it did a few months ago.
Alonso is expected to take a close look at highly-rated youngster Mike Penders during pre-season and there is already growing excitement around what the Belgian could bring to the first team.
If Penders, who has spent this season on loan with Strasbourg, impresses, Jorgensen could quickly find himself slipping even further down the pecking order, and that isn't something he's up for.
At 24 years old, this is the stage of his career where he should be playing every week, not sitting on the bench waiting for opportunities that may never come.
His departure would also be beneficial to Chelsea. They really need to start trimming a bloated squad, so this is undoubtedly one of those transfer stories that makes complete sense for everyone involved.
Several clubs interested
The good news for Jorgensen is that there appears to be plenty of interest in him.
Long time admirers Besiktas view him as a priority signing this summer and are keen to make him their new first-choice goalkeeper.
Porto are also still interested, while several Premier League clubs are keeping tabs on the situation.
Chelsea have spent years stockpiling players in almost every position and the goalkeeping department has been no different.
Jorgensen is unlikely to be the last player who decides his chances of regular football are better elsewhere. So the Blues can recoup a decent fee and the player finds a suitable opportunity, this is a move that will happen sooner rather than later.
