Chelsea Football Club has been misjudged with respect to the now-astute appearing nature of their mega-long contracts. Well, in some cases more than others, anyway. Yet there are still a few puzzling aspects concerning how the west London outfit is run these days. The edging out of a few seemingly capable stars who were acquired for large sums, for example. Stockpiling unnecessary and often under-qualified or vastly unproven young footballers is another element of concern at Stamford Bridge.
But many of you just simply won't believe which winger the modern Blues apparently want to sign soon. If you thought securing Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho was a strange choice that eventually worked out surprisingly well, this latest speculation is on another planet. So just who are CFC pursuing to compete with right winger Noni Madueke? And does this writer believe the signing would be wise, valuable and productive on Fulham Road?
The Jadon Sancho paradox
The Sancho situation is paradoxical for this very reason: almost everybody considered him an ill-advised capture, even on loan, though he was instantly effectively. Obviously the Man United man has fallen down Enzo Maresca's pecking order somewhat since an ineffective Liverpool display. But you get my initial point, I'm sure.
Chelsea have recently gone through their own evolution, with distant light finally appearing. For a good while, all seemed dark at the Bridge. Maresca (not to mention minor strides from Mauricio Pochettino) definitely has the Blues on the right track. They are becoming a force once again.
This turnaround situation is also comparable to some other scenarios at the English capital club. One of their now-star players is Marc Cucurella. The Spaniard's story intertwines perfectly here: he's essentially gone from villain to hero during his Chels' career.
So, the once again respected CFC have now arguably gotten an inflated ego with respect to which top level professionals they can revive. That is because they are said to be turning their attention to bringing a wingman into the squad with further troubles than Sancho possessed.
Chelsea monitoring Manchester United's underperforming yet expensive asset Antony
A report emanating from Spain, which isn't always a reliable location, suggests Chelsea bosses consider signing Antony a viable option. The Brazilian will be targeted next year; this either means a New Year bid, or one in the summer.
We all know Antony has been exceptionally poor at Old Trafford. There is no way to justify this news, as The Pride of London see it. Unneeded and inadvisable.
