Chelsea FC Set Petr Cech Price At £10m
According to The Sun’s Rob Beasley, Chelsea FC have set the price on goalkeeper Petr Cech at £10 million. Just yesterday Cech went on record while on international break saying that he does not want to have another season like this one at Chelsea FC. Cech has been playing second fiddle to Thibaut Courtois and would prefer a move ahead to Euro 2016 to make sure he is playing regularly.

The Czech Republic goalkeeper also conceded that he is under contract for another season so it is entirely up to the club to decide whether to sell him or not. Because of his years of loyal service and excellence, Chelsea FC will likely do right by the 33 year old keeper and sell him so he can be a number one again but Beasley also reports that they will not sell him to a Premier League rival.
Clubs like Arsenal and Liverpool have been linked with the keeper and his agent has confirmed that they have come sniffing around for Cech’s services. It is understandable that Chelsea FC do not want to sell him to either club as he would represent a clear upgrade over any of the keepers in their squads, including established internationals David Ospina and Simon Mignolet.
If Cech were to move to another club, it would have to be to a club somewhere on the continent. PSG, Roma, and Real Madrid have all been linked at some point or another by different newspapers but no concrete confirmations have come out. PSG and Real would have no issues paying that price for an established goalkeeper, especially the Spanish club as they are dealing with a washed up Iker Casillas.
There are very few goalkeepers who can compare resumes with the man they call Saint Iker and Petr Cech is one of them. His list of accomplishments with Chelsea FC is lengthy and it can be used to justify his price tag. Still, £10m is a large amount to pay for a 33 year old keeper, even if he is still one of the world’s best. Keepers can often play until their 40’s, Mark Schwarzer is a great example, but how long can Cech maintain his level of play?

PSG would also add another very recognizable face, or helmet, to their squad and would help them expand their commercial appeal even further.
Wherever he ends up, it is clear that Cech’s Chelsea FC career is coming to a close and what a magnificent one it has been. To send him off with a domestic double should be one of the squad’s motivations and it would be nice if he could clinch that Premier League clean sheets record while they wrap up the trophy.
