2. Tammy Abraham on Arsenal’s radar

Chelsea’s joint top scorer of last season, Tammy Abraham, is on Arsenal radar according to various reports. The North London club is looking to revamp their squad after two successive eighth place finish and the club is not playing in any European competition for the first time in 26 years. With three strikers on their books; Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (aged 32), Alexandre Lacazette (aged 30), and Eddie Nketiah (aged 22), Arsenal will be looking to strengthen their attack. Both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah have only a year left on their contract and the club is looking to move them on.

More from Chelsea FC News

The Athletic has confirmed Arsenal’s interest in Tammy Abraham but has also stated that the club needs to sell first if they’re to land the Chelsea striker. The Blues are asking for £40 million. All kinds of reports are saying that the North London club has proposed a loan offer with an obligation to buy but all of these reports are not true. The 23-year-old England international has fallen drastically down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge and with Chelsea looking to sign a new world class striker, Tammy Abraham is sure to be on the bench only.

The thought of this sale has divided opinion among the Chelsea fan base. Some people feel that Thomas Tuchel should integrate the England international in his plans but this seems like a very unlikely situation right now. The striker’s inconsistency in front of the goal might very well be a very big factor for his sale. No doubt he is a good player but he still feels very raw and needs regular game time to fulfill his potential. With the Blues now aiming to improve their Champions League winning squad, a top class, clinical striker is one of the main positions to strengthen, and for that sacrifices have to be made.
