Cesar Azpilicueta (Right wingback): 6.5/10

Cesar Azpilicueta had a very patchy game on Wednesday. In the first half, the majority of the attacking play from both Chelsea and Watford came from Marcos Alonso’s side, so the club captain was a bit of a passenger. Whenever called upon though, he looked solid winning aerial duels and tackles. He was replaced by Romelu Lukaku in the 68′.

Saul Niguez (Central midfielder): 4/10

Saul Niguez started his only second game in the Premier League and that too lasted only 45 minutes. That speaks volumes as to how the Spaniard played in this contest. Misplacing passes, giving the ball away too easily and all in all, looking like a passenger throughout the first half.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek (Central midfielder): 6.5/10

Loftus-Cheek was put under a lot of pressure in the first half by Watford attackers, so much so that the English midfielder could barely have possession of the ball. Loftus-Cheek was definitely the main culprit whose mistake led to the Watford equalizer. In the second half, Loftus-Cheek played a deeper role and the introduction of Silva really helped in organizing the team, but the absence of a player like Jorginho was felt very badly.

Marcos Alonso (Left wingback): 5/10

It was no surprise that all of Watford’s attacking play went through Alonso’s side. Seeing how bad the Spaniard is defensively, this will be a major concern for Chelsea seeing that eight more games are left to be played in December and Alonso can not play two games in a week. However, some credit should be given to Alonso for his involvement in the opening goal.
