Chelsea target available for £70m in the summer who could partner Enzo Fernandez
Back in January when the talks with Benfica for Enzo Fernandez were not progressing, Chelsea briefly considered other midfield options like Moises Caicedo of Brighton and Amadou Onana of Everton. The Blues now know the price tag of Onana as he could be available in the summer.
When no inroads were being made with Benfica and Caicedo was strongly linked to Arsenal, Chelsea enquired about Onana who joined Everton just last summer from LOSC Lille for £33 million. Onana rejected the idea of joining Chelsea mid season as he didn’t want to jump ship and leave the Toffees stranded in a relegation fight.
The Belgian is an important part of Sean Dyche’s team and has played 26 Premier League games, starting 24 of them. Despite Everton’s struggles to get positive results, Onana has performed well and showcased his impressive talent at the Premier League stage.
Chelsea learn the asking price of Everton midfielder Amadou Onana
Everton currently sit 18th with 26 points, still far from safety. With the relegation battle extremely close, Everton will have to fight till the end to secure Premier League status for next season. Things have improved under Dyche but the job is far from being done.
Onana continues to be an appealing player to Chelsea and Arsenal. According to Football Insider, Everton will ask for £70 million for Onana amid interest from Chelsea and Arsenal. In the event of Everton’s relegation, the asking price could drop but EFC are hoping for a big paycheque should Onana be sold.
If Everton get relegated, chances of the Belgian leaving will increase and there will be suitors waiting for the Belgian. Chelsea are gearing up for a summer that could see a number of players leave. Midfielder Mateo Kovacic is also facing an uncertain future and has already himself to AC Milan as per the reports.
Rube Loftus-Cheek could be sold in the summer and Chelsea will also listen to offers for Conor Gallagher. N’Golo Kante’s contract talks are going on smoothly and he is expected to sign a new deal soon. CFC will look to buy a midfielder if multiple exits take place and Onana does strike up as an exciting option.
His versatility to carry out different roles in different positions can come in handy and he could partner Fernandez in the midfield. Everton’s valuation at £70 million could be argued as a steep valuation but things could change from now and until the summer.
Will CFC make an attempt to sign Amadou Onana?
