Chelsea had already completed their first addition of the season with the signing of Liam Delap during the special transfer window ahead of the Club World Cup. However, following the reopening of the summer transfer window on June 16, the club had drawn a blank on both incoming and outgoing transfers, despite being expected to welcome several new faces and part ways with a few, until now.

That’s because, Chelsea have successfully completed their first outgoing of the summer. It comes in the form of one of their youngsters set to join an EFL League One side.

Last week, it was reported that Chelsea were close to agreeing a contract renewal with 22-year-old goalkeeper Teddy Sharman-Lowe. There were also plans to loan him to Bolton Wanderers.

The club have now officially confirmed that the deal has been completed. The 22-year-old has signed a new contract until 2028, and the loan move to Bolton Wanderers has also been finalised, making it Chelsea’s first official transfer of the 2025 summer transfer window.

Chelsea complete first deal of the summer as Sharman-Lowe moves to Bolton Wanderers on loan

The English goalkeeper, who joined Chelsea in 2020, has spent most of his time at the club out on loan. Last season, Sharman-Lowe was at Doncaster Rovers, where he enjoyed an impressive season that saw them lift the League Two trophy and secure promotion to League One.

Interestingly, Sharman-Lowe hasn’t made his debut for Chelsea’s senior team yet. But there’s little doubt that the club believes in him. They clearly see his potential and are waiting for him to develop further. Or perhaps the plan is to bring in a significant fee in the future.

We wish Sharman-Lowe all the best on his loan at Bolton Wanderers. Hopefully, he will continue to develop and get his chance to shine at Chelsea in the future.
