Chelsea’s frontline is undergoing some major changes this summer. They had already brought in Liam Delap before the Club World Cup, and have recently signed versatile striker Joao Pedro, who impressed fans with his debut performance against Palmeiras. Meanwhile, Christopher Nkunku is believed to be looking for a new club and is expected to leave this summer.

As for Nicolas Jackson, who endured another underwhelming season, some uncertainty still surrounds his future at the club. His recent failure to stay out of the referee's books has only added to the concerns.

Recently, there were even reports that Chelsea are willing to part ways with Jackson if a suitable offer is tabled. That saw him being linked with clubs like Arsenal, Juventus, Napoli, Inter Milan and more.

However, new reports have emerged that tell otherwise about the player’s future. According to Football Insider, Chelsea are planning for Jackson to stay and Enzo Maresca wants to keep the striker despite the signings of Delap and Pedro.

Enzo Maresca intends to keep Nicolas Jackson at Chelsea next season

Despite failing to make progress last season, Jackson has shown flashes of brilliance every now and then. However, that won't be enough to secure the Senegal international a starting role next season.

Realistically, he can expect a reduced role if he decides to stay at Chelsea, as he will have to compete for a spot against Delap and Pedro. That said, with the number of games increasing each season and the risk of injuries ever present, Jackson will surely get his opportunities and then it will be up to him to take them.

As of now, Delap seems to be the new primary striker with the club handing him the number nine shirt upon his arrival. Pedro is also expected to play a major role next season, especially if he can continue performing at the level we saw against Palmeiras.
