It’s been an eventful period for Chelsea in the transfer market recently. One moment, they’re completing a deal, and the next, they’re being linked with another player. Following the start of the summer window, the Blues have finalised the signings of Joao Pedro and Jamie Gittens. Who will be next?
It is believed that Chelsea have an eye on West Ham United’s Mohammed Kudus as potentially their next target, especially with Noni Madueke potentially on his way to Arsenal. However, they’re not the only club interested, as their London rivals Tottenham Hotspur are also firmly in the race.
Spurs have already placed a £50 million to sign Kudus, which was rejected, and seem to be one step ahead of Chelsea in the race. And there is some more bad news for the Blues.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Kudus is not talking to any other club at this point. He wants the Tottenham Hotspur move. He has already said yes to the Spurs project and club-to-club talks with West Ham will continue soon.
Chelsea target Mohammed Kudus wants Tottenham Hotspur move
It was previously reported that West Ham have a strained business relationship with Tottenham and would prefer if Kudus joined Chelsea, should an offer come in. However, it looks like the player himself is keen on joining Spurs. This will surely come as a setback for the Blues.
Having said that, Chelsea’s pursuit of Kudus came as a surprise to many to begin with. The Blues could afford to let go of this deal, as they are already stacked in both the midfield and the forward positions on the pitch where he likes to play.
The club will have to ask itself the question of whether this signing was really a necessary one. Of course, if Madueke does end up leaving, it will be a different discussion.
