It’s official, Chelsea have finally announced their next signing of the summer. The ongoing transfer window opened on June 16th, following a brief break after the special transfer window held before the Club World Cup. The Blues, who had already signed Liam Delap before the tournament began, have been working tirelessly to finalise other deals. And the fans’ wait is over.

Chelsea recently fulfilled two of their requirements by agreeing to deals to sign Jamie Gittens, followed by Joao Pedro. The English winger, who is currently playing for Borussia Dortmund in the Club World Cup, is expected to join the Blues after the tournament.

Meanwhile, Pedro’s transfer has been made official. And he might end up playing a part at the Club World Cup.

Chelsea have confirmed the arrival of Pedro on their official site. The Brazilian has been signed on a seven-year deal. He will join the squad ahead of the Club World Cup quarter-final against Palmeiras.

Chelsea officially announce the signing of Joao Pedro

Pedro impressed in the last season for Brighton & Hove Albion, scoring 10 goals and providing 7 assists in 30 matches. This looks to have convinced Chelsea to bring the player to Stamford Bridge.

It’s clear that Chelsea are focused on rebuilding the frontline, as the Brazilian international is the second forward to join the Blues ahead of next season. And there are even reports that the club could make further additions in that area.

Pedro’s signing aligns with Chelsea’s recent policy of recruiting youngsters rather than proven players. Fans will hope that if the club decides to bring in another striker, it will go for a more experienced option.

That said, players like Cole Palmer, Pedro Neto, among others, have established themselves in the Royal Blue jersey despite joining the club at a young age. It remains to be seen if the Brazilian striker can follow in their footsteps.
