The deadline day is finally upon us, and Chelsea have a lot to do in terms of squad building before the end of the transfer window.
There are still a number of targets that they are looking at, and Liam Delap's injury has stirred up a few things for them as they finalise their transfers before the end of September 1.
There are a number of deals still in place for the London side, as Chelsea could still hijack the Marc Guehi deal, and try to sign Fermin Lopez if the player shows that he wants to leave.
Their first arrival, though, will be that of a familiar face.
Marc Guiu set to return to Chelsea after Liam Delap's injury
Fabrizio Romano has reported that Chelsea are calling back loanee Marc Guiu from Sunderland after the news of Delap's injury.
Chelsea now need every single attacking option they can get, especially after sending Christopher Nkunku to AC Milan. I think we all know the case of Nicolas Jackson pretty well, so Guiu coming back makes a bit of sense.
The journalist says that the clubs have already exchanged formal emails about recalling Guiu, and the player is on the way back to London, after being informed on Sunday about the whole situation.
The Spanish striker was only able to muster up 16 appearances last season, which is why he went on loan to Sunderland in the first place. He did score six goals, though, and will hope to get more game-time this time around as Chelsea battle for the league title with Liverpool and Arsenal.
Sunderland had already fielded him twice this season, and he also scored a goal in the League Cup match against Huddersfield, which they lost on penalties.
They had been looking for a replacement for Guiu in the last day of the transfer window, and I guess everyone understands Chelsea were within their rights to bring the player back after Delap's injury.
And as it turns out, this has worked out well for all parties involved as Sunderland also quickly found their Guiu replacement - signing Bryan Brobbey from Ajax on a permanent transfer.
Chelsea get their striker depth back, while Sunderland also get a striker - this time on a permanent basis - and someone who definitely has more top-level experience than the Chelsea forward.
It remains to be seen what Chelsea do to further strengthen their squad before the end of the transfer window.
