Chelsea are set to face Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup final and will want to add another trophy to their cabinet this season. While the players remain focused on the pitch, the club officials are busy finding reinforcements to strengthen the squad further ahead of the next campaign, especially with the Blues' much-anticipated return to the Champions League.
Chelsea have already made three signings this summer in the form of Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, and Jamie Gittens. Additionally, the club’s intention to bring in a reliable centre-back and a goalkeeper is well known. However, it appears that's not all, as the Blues are willing to add a new face in the midfield as well.
Not too long ago, it was reported that Chelsea have Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado on their radar. Now it looks like they have stepped up their interest in the player, but they are not alone in the race.
According to CaughtOffside, Chelsea, as well as Arsenal, have enquired about the possible signing of Casado. Manchester United are also interested.
Chelsea make enquiry about Barcelona’s Marc Casado over a possible move this summer
Barcelona are reportedly willing to part ways with Casado in case a suitable offer is tabled. The player has a release clause of €100 million but reports suggest that the Spanish champions will likely sanction a move for a fee of around €50 million.
In the 24/25 season, Casado has appeared in 36 matches in all competitions for Barcelona, scoring one goal along with six assists. At just 21 years old, he has the potential to develop into one of the best in his position.
That said, if Casado makes the move to Chelsea, there’s no guarantee he will get regular minutes with the likes of Romeo Lavia, Andrey Santos and Moises Caicedo already at Stamford Bridge. Let's see if a move is made to sign him.
