Nobody can question Chelsea's ownership team when it comes to negotiations and the perfect example of this is Nicolas Jackson's move to Bayern Munich. The Senegalese striker had been on his way to Munich for a medical on Saturday with the belief that a loan deal was fully agreed.

That was until Liam Delap suffered a hamstring injury in the Blues' 2-0 victory away to Fulham. The Englishman pulled up with an issue in the first half and immediately had fans and probably Enzo Maresca fretting over the extent of his injury.

Delap is set for eight weeks out of action which is a massive blow for the player and the club. But it had also put Jackson's loan move at risk with the club looking to terminate the agreement just has he arrived in Germany.

Jackson insisted on making the move after falling out of favour under Maresca. The west Londoners decided to re-enter talks with Bayern and came to a new agreement on improved financial terms.

Nicolas Jackson departing Chelsea for a higher loan fee

Chelsea weren't willing to let Jackson complete his loan move without making necessary changes to the agreement. They were, after all, in full control of the situation, given it wasn't a sale and he hadn't even completed the move.

Fabrizio Romano reports that the Blues have managed to obtain a higher loan fee than originally agreed upon. The Bundesliga champions are now paying a €16.5m fee rather than €15m, which is an impressive outcome.

Furthermore, the deal now includes an obligation to buy next summer, which means there will be no uncertainty over a possible Jackson return. He endured a topsy-turvy time at Stamford Bridge but the signings of Delap and Joao Pedro meant the 24-year-old had little chance of game time.

Chelsea recall Marc Guiu

With Jackson moving to Bayern there was still pressure to bring in a much-needed backup option to share the responsibilities of leading the line with Pedro. Delap had actually started the Fulham game centrally with his Brazilian teammate as a second striker.

The Blues have decided to recall Marc Guiu from Sunderland in the emergency of losing Delap for a lengthy period. The 19-year-old is returning to Maresca's side where he played a bit-part role last season, handed first-team opportunities in the Europa Conference League.

Guiu may view this as a chance to show his worth and consistently challenge for a prominent role in Maresca's team. His short period at the Stadium of Light saw him net one goal in three games across competitions.
