Chelsea have been looking for a reliable striker up front for quite some time now. Their current main forward, Nicolas Jackson, has disappointed this season, to say the least. In the Blues’ latest 2-0 loss against Newcastle United, he was in the headlines for all the wrong reasons after he was sent off for a clumsy, unnecessary tackle.

These kinds of performances make it even more evident that Chelsea will need to sign a striker this summer, as they look to compete for multiple trophies. And one name has been linked with them constantly for years now.

There are already various rumours linking numerous players as potential candidates. It looks like the club are ready to revisit their long-standing interest in Victor Osimhen.

The Blues have been following Osimhen for quite some time now but haven’t been able to get the deal over the line. Could this be the year they finally succeed?

Chelsea have tried to bring in Osimhen on multiple occasions. Even before the Napoli forward’s loan move to Galatasaray, the Blues tried to sign him but failed.

According to Football Transfers, Chelsea are set to open crunch talks with Osimhen's representatives as the Premier League giants attempt to strike a compromise over the striker’s €12 million-per-year wage demands. The Nigerian's salary expectations remain the only major stumbling block preventing him from completing a summer move to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have already shortlisted other forwards as a Plan B. Among them are Liam Delap and Ollie Watkins.

Delap is reportedly good friends with Chelsea's Cole Palmer, which gives them an upper hand in case of negotiations. Of course, Champions League qualification might prove necessary to land his signature.

It is highly unlikely that Osimhen will lower his wage demands. And Chelsea are not expected to break their structure to accomodate any one player.
