Chelsea travel just five miles down the road to face Brentford in their final Premier League game before the international break.
After opening the season with two wins, things have gone downhill since the draw with Arsenal, with a defeat and a draw leaving the Blues looking to get back on track. Defensive solidity will be key, while they will also want to maintain the attacking threat that has been a positive so far.
So, who will make the starting XI for tomorrow’s game?
Here’s our predicted lineup
GK: Emi Martinez
He will be desperate to keep a clean sheet given the scrutiny he has faced since joining the club. You could certainly argue that Hull’s second goal was his fault, making a strong defensive performance all the more important.
CB: Wesley Fofana
Not the strongest of the defenders, but Xabi Alonso likes rotation so far and you could see him in Josh Acheampong
CB: Maxence Lacroix
The Frenchman has arguably been Chelsea’s standout defender so far this season, looking assured in his duels and largely avoiding blame for any of the nine Premier League goals the Blues have conceded.
CB: Levi Colwill
Been in and out of the team through the season with fitness concerns but will need a good run of games to find form that has been lacking when selected.
RWB: Pedro Neto
I’d take him over Malo Gusto all day, even when it comes to the defensive side of the game. His battle with Keane Lewis-Potter will be an important one, with both players looking to push the other back.
DM: Romeo Lavia
The midfielder is back and is no longer tagged as an injury curse. Will he go on to fulfil his potential, well he can start against Brentford.
DM: Reece James
An injury doubt after missing training but more likely to have rested given his workload demands. Crucial to the team without the midfield star quality now.
LWB: Pedro Chavarria
Jorrel Hato lets the ball bounce and that is it for me. It is time to give the summer signing some regular minutes and see what his energy can provide to the attack-defence balance.
AM: Cole Palmer
Stats are falling for Cole, and his performances show he is the first name on the teamsheet.
AM: Morgan Rogers
The new signing is already producing numbers that put him among the elite, giving Chelsea fans another player to watch in what could become one of football’s most entertaining bromances. Quick start, and perhaps, give supporters reason to check the odds of Rogers scoring inside the opening 10 minutes.
ST: Danny Welbeck
Joao Pedro and Emmanuel Emegha are injured, but ok according to Alonso, so there is only one person for me and fans. All trust is put in Welbeck to shine and bag a few.
