Despite defeat this week, there is certainly still plenty for Chelsea to play for this season. On Tuesday night, the Blues were dumped out of the EFL Cup at the semi-final stage. 3-2 down from the first leg at Stamford Bridge, they rarely looked like snatching the goal they required, as Arsenal actually rubber stamped victory in injury time, with Kai Havertz, who else, once again scoring against his former side.
Since taking over last month, Liam Rosenior has won six of his eight matches as Blues boss, both exceptions coming in the Carabao Cup against their fierce London rivals. Nevertheless, Chelsea are still involved in the FA Cup, traveling to Hull next Friday, and are straight through to the round of 16 in the Champions League; PSG or Newcastle their likely next opponents in March.
Back in the Premier League, Chelsea sit fifth, with games against three of the bottom five to come in February, namely Wolves, Leeds and then Burnley. Whatever this team goes onto achieve, both this season and beyond, Enzo Fernández is likely to remain a key figure. This week, the Argentine World Cup winner has been discussing what he aims to achieve in West London, and supporters will like what he had to say.
Enzo Fernández discussing life at Chelsea
It is now three years since Fernández joined Chelsea from Benfica for a reported fee of £107 million. In that time, he has made 151 appearances for the club, scoring 27 goals, hoisting aloft the UEFA Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup trophies. This season, he has very much remained a pivotal player.

Looking at a wide-variety of statistics, Fernández ranks highly across the board at Chelsea this season. Only João Pedro has scored more than his 11 goals, while the Argentine ranks first in terms of overall minutes as well as when it comes to shooting, chance creation and key passes.
Speaking in an interview to Sky Sports, Fernádez asserts that he wants to emulate the club's all-time leading goalscorer:
"He's an inspiration. I've watched a lot of videos of Frank {Lampard] since coming to Chelsea. I've seen how he got into those last metres of the pitch and how he got into the box... he's an idol. I hope to follow in his footsteps at Chelsea."
Well, during a 13 year career at the club, Frank Lampard made 648 appearances, scoring 211 goals, the club record, breaking Bobby Tambling's all-time record at Villa Park in May 2013. The Englishman also won 13 major honours, including three Premier League titles and the Champions League as captain in 2012.
Fair to say, Fernández has a long way to go to emulate that legacy, but he appears motivated to do so, which is just as well, considering his current contract has another six years left to run.
