Chelsea have won the Club World Cup following their impressive 3-0 victory against a world-class Paris Saint-Germain in the final. Cole Palmer was as cold as ever and was easily the best player of the match. He scored two incredible goals and provided the assist for the third by Joao Pedro, leaving the French side without an answer.

This trophy will certainly enhance the team’s confidence moving forward into next season, especially with the Champions League on the horizon. However, it’s not solely a morale booster.

Chelsea will now be considered world champions for the next four years. And in the process, the Blues have received a major financial reward as well.

According to the BBC, following their Club World Cup win, Chelsea will receive £21.3 million as a participation fee and £62.7 million as performance-based money. This takes their total earnings from the tournament to a staggering £84 million.

Chelsea to receive £84 million financial boost for winning the Club World Cup

Although the Club World Cup has faced a lot of criticism in the past few weeks, one cannot deny the sizable financial gains the tournament has offered to the clubs which have participated. And while many were about the level of competition going into the tournament, it proved to be very competitive.

With the summer window ongoing, Chelsea will also benefit hugely in fulfilling their transfer plans after this fresh inflow of cash. The Blues are still in search of a quality centre-back and possibly a goalkeeper; however, given Robert Sanchez’s performance against PSG, we are not so sure about the latter.

For now, the players are off to holidays and will return to action on 8th August when Chelsea face Bayern Leverkusen for their first pre-season friendly. Have a great rest, boys.
