Jamie Carragher slammed for Chelsea hypocrisy after Liverpool's latest splurge

One rule for Chelsea doesn't apply to Liverpool.

We are in this day and age where most big clubs in the world need to spend lots of money to buy players that may or may not have been worth it a few years ago. Chelsea are in that list, too, and they buy to build for the present as well as the future.

For many clubs, their model is like that. For some, it is a bit different, or so they expect people to believe, but that is how things are these days. You won't sign a high level athlete - even if they are 18 years old - for less than 40-50 million pounds.

Chelsea are criticised for doing exactly that. I mean, sure, the club has spent a lot of money over the last few years, but they have also built a squad equipped to compete for titles now as well as in five to six years.

They have signed a bunch of really talented players for a lot of money, and have been criticised for it by many people in the sport.

Jamie Carragher should speak out on Liverpool's spending, too

One of them is Jamie Carragher, who has gone on record to say quite a few things about Chelsea's spending. I remember once, he said, "This is no underdog story. They have spent 1.2 billion pounds."

He has since not said a word about how much money Liverpool have spent this season. I mean, it's not a billion pounds or whatever, but spending more than 446 million pounds in a summer is absolutely no joke.

They have signed good players, with it, and they have recovered a lot in sales too. What they are doing may be right or wrong - that is not the debate here.

What I am talking about is how he is ignorant to the fact that his own club is doing the same thing he criticises Chelsea for.

Liverpool don't splurge often. They do it when the need arises, but that's the thing - due to one reason or another, they have still done it, and there is no denying that, is there?

All Chelsea fans ask for, even on the Reddit post, is clarity and unbiasedness from a pundit who everyone knows supports the club he played 500 games for. However, that should not show.

You can't pick and choose where the line is for one club and where it is for another. It should be applicable to everyone in that stratosphere of clubs, and Liverpool are certainly one of them.
