Malo Gusto has made Chelsea decision following Man City talks

Chelsea are undoubtedly the busiest Premier League club this summer.

The Blues have multiple areas of their own squad to address with the soon-to-arrive Xabi Alonso tasked with leading a rebuild.

The Spaniard's job is being made harder by several players facing the exit, though. Marc Cucurella has already joined Real Madrid after a £52 million agreement was reached and Enzo Fernandez could soon follow.

Alejandro Garnacho, Liam Delap, Marc Guiu and Trevoh Chalobah have all also been linked with leaving Stamford Bridge this summer with the latter subject to a recent £21.5 million offer from Cesc Fabregas' Como.

Along with the aforementioned names, right-back Malo Gusto is also wanted by a new club.

Malo Gusto a target for Manchester City

The Frenchman has emerged as a target for Manchester City ahead of Enzo Maresca's unveiling.

The Citizens are prioritising signing a new right-back following Rico Lewis' lack of playing time last season, and Gusto is a player Maresca wants to be reunited with following their 18 months together at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues won't part with the 23-year-old easily, though. Despite missing out on European qualification after finishing 10th in the league last season, Chelsea are still demanding a huge sum for the former Lyon man.

Chelsea are believed to value Gusto at £75 million which is a significant increase on the £26 million they paid for him three years ago.

The pressure to sell is building, though.

How Gusto feels about joining Citizens following talks

Even though an agreement between the two clubs has yet to be reached, and still appears to be some way off, according to Foot Mercato, Gusto has already held talks with the eight-time Premier League champions.

Even though Gusto is currently away with France at the 2026 World Cup in North America, City representatives have already spoke to the Chelsea defender to gauge his interest in moving to the Etihad.

Unsurprisingly, Gusto is believed to have accepted City's terms, which, of course, would come with playing in the UEFA Champions League next season, and would welcome working under Maresca again.

The problem for City remains, though. Failure to meet, or at least get a lot closer to the Blues' asking price, will see them come up short. Gusto is under contract until 2030 so BlueCo hold all the cards.

During his three years at Stamford Bridge, Gusto has directly contributed to an impressive 20 goals in 134 matches in all competitions.
