As with any new kit, there are often mixed reviews amongst supporters. Many Chelsea fans feel that their new signing, Marco Palestra, modelling the new strip, has made it look good.

One Chelsea supporter wrote on Reddit, "Every time we’ve signed a good looking lad over the years, I want to buy the kit more than I did on announcement. —Then I get it and I don’t look like this." Another added, "Have to be honest, the kit is growing on me."

The kit is a classic Chelsea blue, with a smart collar. It is not too dissimilar to one Palestra would wear with the Italian national team. Palestra has two caps for Italy. He made a late substitute appearance as his country defeated Northern Ireland 2-0 in the World Cup playoff semi-final. The right-back then had to come on at half-time in the final, but they lost to Bosnia and Herzegovina on penalties after a 1-1 draw in 120 minutes.

The badge, being just the lion with the staff, gives the kit a retro feel. It fits well with the yellow Nike tick on the other side. Between the crest and the manufacturer logo is the Club World Cup badge. Blues fans can still boast about being world champions.

Will Marco Palestra be a good fit for Chelsea?

Palestra's ability to play right-back and wing-back on both sides makes him a good option for Xabi Alonso. The new manager fields his sides in either a 3-4-2-1 or a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Reece James has already gotten injured at the World Cup this summer. The injury-prone Chelsea captain is not reliable enough from a fitness perspective when it comes to playing a full campaign. James can also be deployed in a defensive midfield position. Malo Gusto looks set to join Manchester City, so it is good that the Blues already have a replacement for him.

Palestra played 37 times for Cagliari in Serie A last season, scoring once and making four assists. He helped them finish comfortably in 14th place in the division. For the campaign, he was named Serie A's best defender and selected in the league's team of the season.

The right-back spent time with Inter Milan's academy before coming through the ranks at Atalanta. He has a Europa League winners' medal despite making just one substitute appearance in the group stage when Atalanta won the tournament. He also represented them in the Champions League. Chelsea are without European soccer next season, but Alonso is expected to get them back to competing on the continent.
