Moises Caicedo just said exactly what Enzo Fernandez is scared to admit

Take notes, Enzo.

Moises Caicedo is one of the best midfielders in the world. Sure, his discipline is down there with the worst, but his overall traits make those red flags look green in Chelsea's eyes. Turns out, he loves Chelsea just as much as the fans love him, as he's done what Enzo Fernandez is scared to do: Commit his future to Chelsea even before a contract is signed.

The Ecuador international was recently asked about a potential move to Real Madrid, to which he shut down immediately. In his own words, Caicedo said "I want to become a Chelsea legend. I’m under contract at Chelsea, and my focus is on Chelsea and Ecuador.”

Whether or not he means it is a different story; what matters is that Moises Caicedo gave Chelsea fans little to worry about. If only Enzo Fernandez had done the same.

Moises Caicedo said what Enzo Fernandez didn't, and that matters

Enzo Fernandez, when speaking about the same rumours on his end, said “I don't know. Right now I'm focused on here, then there's the World Cup, and we'll see.”

On paper, the two players said the same thing. However, the uproar from Chelsea fans lately has centred around what Enzo Fernandez didn't say.

While Moises Caicedo went a step further, saying he's not done at Chelsea, Enzo Fernandez did not.

You can criticise Chelsea for a lot of things, and you'd be right. However, one thing the Blues have locked down is their midfield. On paper (and, more importantly, on the pitch), Chelsea have one of the best midfields in the world.

They have two premium assets in Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo. Both are of high quality and complement each other well when used together. They should be key to build around for Chelsea's future, but only Caicedo has offered such reassurances.

Enzo Fernandez might be pushing to stay at Chelsea, but he's approaching it the wrong way

Obviously, we need to address the elephant in the room. It is very rare, nonexistent even, that players will say something to the media without it being vetted first. Truth be told, we don't know how players feel anywhere; all life was sucked out of that side of the game by agents and the like.

It is very much a possibility that Enzo Fernandez is simply playing up for a new contract at Chelsea. That would be... fine, I guess? There are better ways to go about it that would pay better respect to the Chelsea fanbase, but if that were the case, at least he wouldn't be maliciously pushing for a move away.
