Chelsea finally in talks for substantial £84m marquee signing
Trustworthy reports suggest that Chelsea Football Club are finally in talks over a potentially brilliant and highly impactful signing for the summer. With a valuation supposedly around the £84 million mark, this would indeed be a marquee acquisition for the Blues. Will the English capital team get their man? And is there a makeweight in the form of an unwanted player going in the other direction? A simply ideal situation is developing at Stamford Bridge, if we trust media stories.
Chelsea sign goalkeeper but not finished in transfer market
The Blues shelled out £20.7m for Filip Jorgensen this week, yet further incoming business is expected to transpire. If another deal is done at the Bridge soon, approximately £100m might have been spent on two new faces. Meanwhile a player not in Enzo Maresca's plans will hopefully be offloaded in a part exchange for a the expensive target.
That's right, The Pride of London are referring to speculated discussions between CFC and Napoli. The talks, of course, concern two strikers: Victor Osimhen and Romelu Lukaku.
Lukaku has reportedly agreed to join the Italian side. While Chels' recruits chiefs are meant to be working on an agreement for Osimhen to come to Fulham Road. Supporters will generally be happy for Lukaku that he's leaving. Having the Belgian's wages off the books is a relief for the west Londoners, I'm sure.
But Osimhen is the crucial factor here. Napoli have thankfully lowered his price from £120m plus to just over £80m. This has brought the Blues back to the table for talks. Fingers crossed!
Tottenham Hotspur aim to ruin Blues party
Obviously there are caveats here, so don't for one moment consider the Nigeria international a Blue already. The possibility is only really becoming a reality at this stage. There is no 'here we go' as of yet. To be fair, Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, recently dismissed claims that his client is about to switch teams.
And the following statement is a worry as well. Tottenham are keeping tabs on the Naples club's asset at present. Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou is an apparent admirer of Osimhen. Who isn't?! Postecoglou must have good taste because he is said to want Conor Gallagher at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium too.
Will The north London outfit hijack their rival's prospective signing? Postecoglou is ostensibly "obsessed" with acquiring a new centre forward, so anything is possible. It is asserted that they too are prepared to offer some of their own footballers as sweeteners.
