Chelsea are preparing to welcome PSG to Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night for a second-leg Last 16 Champions League knockout tie.

Set for their biggest challenge of the season so far, Chelsea must attempt to overturn a 5-2 first-leg thrashing.

Liam Rosenior must learn from his previous mistakes as he somehow looks to find a way to get the better of Luis Enrique without the help of several first team players.

Reece James, who recently extended his contract, is ruled out after picking up a hamstring injury. Jamie Gittens (thigh), Levi Colwill (knee) and Filip Jorgensen (pelvis) are also sidelined with Malo Gusto (illness) facing a late fitness test.

Although Estevao could make his much-needed return against PSG after missing the last six weeks of action, there are new concerns emerging over Wesley Fofana.

Jorrel Hato expected to replace Wesley Fofana against PSG

Fofana would have been one of the first names on Rosenior's team sheet but the Frenchman is now a major doubt after experiencing muscular pain.

The 25-year-old, according to Le'quipe, is set to miss out against PSG with Jorrel Hato in line to take his place.

Although Hato is a natural left-back, he has proven he is capable of doing a job at centre-back. The situation is far from ideal, though.

Hato, who joined from Ajax last summer, has started in just five Premier League games and three Champions League games this season.

The likes of Ousmane Dembele, Bradley Barcola and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia will be licking their lips at the prospect of facing the inexperienced 20-year-old, who now faces the biggest test of his career to date.

Chelsea's second-leg against PSG just got even harder

Not only will Chelsea's attackers need to be clinical in front of goal, the defence cannot afford to make any more mistakes.

The first-leg at the Parc des Princes last week saw the Blues' backline breached five times, including allowing a late brace from Kvaratskhelia.

Hato was named as an unused substitute for that game but the reverse leg could see the Rotterdam-born defender given a much more important role.

Without captain James at the back to orchestrate proceedings, Rosenior must rely on some of his most inexperienced players to step up.

Trevoh Chalobah started in Paris and is set to keep his place, possibly lining up alongside Hato, but with recent uncertainty over Gusto's fitness, it remains to be seen who else will complete Chelsea's defence.
