Chelsea are going into the next season with a new-look squad following the arrivals of Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens, Jorrel Hato, Dario Essugo and Estevao over the summer. Each one of the mentioned players has impressed with their performances in the pre-season friendlies against Bayer Leverkusen and AC Milan.
Nevertheless, the Blues seem to be in no mood to stop strengthening their squad just yet, as they are already in advanced talks with RB Leipzig over a deal for Xavi Simons. However, as we speak, an agreement hasn’t been reached between the clubs despite the player being keen on the move.
Meanwhile, Chelsea’s last piece of transfer business involving RB Leipzig didn’t pan out so well, and they are looking to part ways with Christopher Nkunku. A return to the Bundesliga club is believed to be a possibility.
Now, some other names have cropped up when it comes to negotiations over a deal for Simons. So is a swap deal a possibility between the clubs?
Three Chelsea player involved in negotiations with RB Leipzig for Xavi Simons
According to Ben Jacobs, Chelsea and RB Leipzig have discussed Nkunku in talks for Simons. Tyrique George and Carney Chukwuemeka are other names raised over the past few weeks. But if any such move happens, it will be a separate transfer.
Although we are in the last few weeks of the transfer window, Chelsea are yet to find new clubs for either Nkunku or Nicolas Jackson. Both players suffered from poor form last season and have lost their significance to the squad, especially with the arrival of Delap and Pedro.
Anyway, Chelsea seem to be focused on the signing of Simons one way or another. And we hope they can manage to get the deal over the finish line soon, as rumours about Manchester City's interest are starting to emerge.
