Tyrique George to Everton not guaranteed after another club join the race

Tyrique George has no future at Stamford Bridge and will almost-certainly leave on a permanent deal this summer.

The 20-year-old came through the Cobham Academy and has always been highly rated, but a lack of opportunities have forced him to consider his options.

Having spent last season out on loan with Everton, there is growing speculation the Toffees will attempt to make the forward's switch permanent during the summer.

Everton trying to negotiate lower fee for Tyrique George

Although George wasn't a regular starter at the Hill Dickinson Stadium last season — starting just one Premier League game — David Moyes revealed he 'likes' the Chelsea loanee and promised give him more chances.

"I like Tyrique. We’ll try to get him more opportunities and minutes when we can. He’s got good control, he wants to score and you saw that today," Moyes told reporters in April.

Following Moyes' comments at the end of the season, it comes as little surprise to learn the Toffees are hopeful they can sign the 20-year-old permanently during the summer transfer window.

According to TEAMtalk, Everton are attempting to lower George's £22 million buy fee, either by offering a lower outright fee, or by paying in instalments.

Time is of the essence, though. The Toffees are up against it due to the forward's loan move officially expiring on June 30.

Newcastle United also interested in Chelsea youngster

Should Moyes' side fail to meet Chelsea's demands for George, the market will likely open up and offer the England under-21 more opportunities to decide his next club.

Newcastle United are in need of a replacement for Anthony Gordon following his surprising recent £70 million move to Barcelona, and it has been reported that George is a player they like the look of.

The Magpies could certainly offer the Cobham academy graduate ample playing time, and working under Eddie Howe might be something that appeals to the player.

Whether Newcastle United go on the offensive for George or Everton succeed in reaching an agreement with Chelsea first, all signs point towards this year being the youngster's last at Stamford Bridge, and that would be a sad ending for a player who has been at the club since the age of eight.

Since being promoted to Chelsea's first team at the end of 2024, George, who is under contract at Stamford Bridge until next summer, has scored six goals and registered six assists in 37 matches in all competitions.
