What Liam Rosenior has said about Chelsea's mole raises one major question

Chelsea's problems have extended beyond the pitch in recent weeks after it emerged someone connected to the club had been leaking inside information, such as lineups, to the media ahead of time.

The Blues face an uphill task if they're to finish the season strongly. Liam Rosenior said only a top four finish and FA Cup glory could be considered a successful campaign, and after the side were dumped out of the Champions League by PSG in the Last 16 earlier this week, that's now all there is to hope for.

Although the Chelsea head coach is undeniably under pressure, his job has been made harder by his lineups being leaked to the press way ahead of kick-off. Judging by the 41-year-old's recent comments, it seems the club have put a stop to it, though.

Liam Rosenior confirms Chelsea have identified their inside mole

The latest information leak saw the French media reveal Rosenior's tactical plans hours before the Blues played on Tuesday night. It was reported that Jorrel Hato would replace Wesley Fofana in defence against PSG.

And revealing what action the club have taken, Rosenior, who spoke to The Guardian, admitted the individual responsible —apparently not a player or member of his backroom staff — has been identified and the situation 'dealt with'.

"We know. And it’s not come from any place of malicious intent to me or the team.

We know where it’s come from and we’ve dealt with the situation."

Rosenior's words on the individual's intentions are strange, though. How can someone feeding the media sensitive information do so without intending to cause problems?

Nevertheless, should Chelsea's internal investigation prove to be a success, fans will not learn which players Rosenior has picked hours in advance, and with a tricky Premier League match away to Everton next up, that'll definitely be a good thing.

No more room for error as Chelsea prepare for Everton

Set to travel to Merseyside for this weekend's fixture against David Moyes' Toffees, Chelsea — currently three points off fourth — know they cannot afford to drop any more points.

There are just eight league games left to play and likely just one Champions League spot up for grabs amid Manchester United's resurgence under Michael Carrick.

In desperate need of all three points, Rosenior will be demanding his side, whichever one he names, put in a better display than the one which saw them lose 1-0 to Newcastle United last time out.

Unbeaten in their last four league games against Everton, there is hope Chelsea can continue their recent head-to-head record despite Moyes' side pushing for European football themselves.
