Alejandro Garnacho wanted by Roma but there's a catch

Chelsea have already made sales this summer and could make even before the close of the window.

Marc Cucurella joined Real Madrid after a £52 million agreement was reached and Tyrique George has moved to Everton on a permanent transfer following his loan spell last season.

Enzo Fernandez remains open to leaving Stamford Bridge but won't be joining Madrid after the Spanish giants confirmed they have no intention of entering into talks.

Marc Guiu, Liam Delap and Nicolas Jackson are also candidates to move on because none of the trio are likely to be Xabi Alonso's main striker.

And another forward could also be cut loose...

Alejandro Garnacho wanted by Serie A club

Alejandro Garnacho failed to impress during his first season at Chelsea.

The Argentine, who joined from Manchester United for £40 million, managed just one Premier League goal last time out and, like many others, is unlikely to be trusted by Alonso.

Clearly struggling with the demands of playing for a team who should be inside the top six, Garnacho's record in England is far from what it should be.

His reputation is also in tatters. Not only did he fall out with former United manager Ruben Amorim, but his attitude since being a Chelsea player has continually been questioned.

As a result, the Blues are willing to admit defeat and are open to listening to offers for the disappointing 22-year-old.

According to Football London, Roma are prepared to offer the young South American a route out of west London but only on loan.

Chelsea not interested in a loan deal

Chelsea have little interested in getting rid of Garnacho temporarily though.

Instead of loaning him out, the Blues want him gone permanently, and that says it all about how badly he's underperformed.

Roma's problem is their reluctance to invest so much into a player who has so far failed to fulfill his potential.

As for Chelsea, normally when a new manager comes in every player is given a clean slate and the chance to impress, but this doesn't appear to be the case with Garnacho. Alonso has obviously already seen enough and doesn't want to waste his time on a player who's clearly not up for the fight.

It remains to be seen if Roma will buckle and make a formal offer, but if they do, expect Chelsea to snap their hand off.

During his first year at Chelsea, Garnacho, who's deal runs until 2032, has directly contributed to 12 goals in 43 matches in all competitions.
