It’s been more than a week since the summer transfer window reopened, but Chelsea are yet to make any new signings, with a number of positions still in need of reinforcements. For most of last season, they suffered from the absence of an established left winger. Mykhailo Mudryk has been suspended since December, with no known return date. Meanwhile, Jadon Sancho, who was brought in on loan from Manchester United, also failed to make the desired impact and has returned to Old Traffford.

To fill the gap on the left flank, Chelsea have prioritised the signing of a right-footed winger ahead of the upcoming campaign, especially with the Champions League on the horizon. The club already approached Borussia Dortmund regarding the signing of Jamie Gittens before the Club World Cup. Conflicting reports have claimed that either two or three bids have already been submitted for the youngster. However, the Blue saw each of those offers rejected, as the Bundesliga giants remain firm on their valuation of the player.

Nevertheless, it appears the Blues are in no mood to give up just yet. Chelsea are said to be engaging in talks with Borussia Dortmund on the sidelines of the Club World Cup in the USA.

Now, according to talkSPORT, Chelsea are set to place another bid. They are hoping to seal a transfer for around £45m.

Chelsea prepare £45 million bid to sign Gittens

Gittens caught the eyes of several clubs with his performances in the first half of last season. However, following the appointment of Niko Kovac as Borussia Dortmund’s head coach, the youngster has seen his role reduced in the latter part of the campaign.

Gittens is believed to have time and again reiterated his desire to join the Blues, who have a personal agreement with the player on a seven-year deal. Despite links with Bayern Munich and Arsenal, he seems to view Chelsea as his preferred destination.

Chelsea are leaving no stone unturned in their pursuit of Gittens. It remains to be seen if this offer can take the deal over the finish line or if there is still more to come in this saga.
