Chelsea’s pursuit of a reinforcement on the left flank continues, as they are yet to bring in any new players for the role. With Mykhailo Mudryk suspended for the foreseeable future and Jadon Sancho returning to Manchester United, the Blues are currently relying on Pedro Neto or Noni Madueke to fill the position although both are left-footed and it creates balance issues tactically.

Chelsea have been trying to secure the signing of Jamie Gittens as a left winger for the club, with the youngster ticking all the right boxes. However, no deal has been finalised for the player so far.

Club-to-club discussions are still ongoing with Borussia Dortmund, who rejected as many as three offers from Chelsea for the player before the start of the Club World Cup. And as the saga has dragged on, that has allowed new clubs to join the race.

Recently, it was also reported that, in addition to Chelsea, Bayern Munich have also entered the race to sign the youngster. Of course, this was bad news for the Blues but there is now an update on the situation.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, despite links with Bayern Munich, Chelsea are close to completing the Gittens deal. A direct meeting with Borussia Dortmund took place on Monday and talks are now underway again between the two clubs.

Gittens has seen his role reduced at Borussia Dortmund under new coach Niko Kovac and has been in and out of the starting XI lately. The youngster is believed to have already agreed to a seven-year deal with Chelsea, a clear indication of his desire to join the Blues.

With the transfer window still far from over, it remains to be seen whether he will end up at Stamford Bridge. As things stand, Chelsea are the favourites to sign him.
