Chelsea are set for a busy summer. The Blues have to make decisions on several players, including Nicolas Jackson, who will not be joining Bayern Munich permanently.
Jackson joined the Bundesliga champions on loan at the start of the season, but has been forced to play a backup role to star man Harry Kane.
The Senegal international has produced some decent numbers, though. Despite most of his appearances coming from the bench, Jackson has scored 10 goals, including three in the Champions League, and provided four assists.
Irrespective of this, Bayern, much to Vincent Kompany's disappointment, opted against triggering his buy clause.
AC Milan among clubs interested in Nicolas Jackson
After Bayern Munich refused to spend the £58 million required to sign him permanently, Max Eberl confirmed Jackson will be heading back to Stamford Bridge.
Although there are suggestions the forward could be reintegrated into the Chelsea squad, especially if the club decide to appoint Andoni Iraola, another departure seems the likeliest outcome.
And even though Newcastle United have been heavily linked in the past, according to a recent report from German outlet, BILD, there are at least another four clubs considering negotiating a deal with Chelsea.
Juventus are believed to be interested in signing Jackson on a season-long loan with Fenerbahce and AC Milan keen a permanent transfer.
Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli, captained by former Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, have also been mentioned as a possible destination.
Possible reunion with Christopher Nkunku on the cards
Jackson wouldn't be the first Chelsea player AC Milan have signed recently. The Rossoneri paid £36 million for Christopher Nkunku last summer.
And with Jackson a contender to also move to the San Siro, the pair could be reunited in time for the 2026-27 season.
During their two years together at Stamford Bridge, Nkunku and Jackson played together 19 times. Neither player provided an assist for the other, but whenever they were on the pitch together, the Blues did average over 2 points per game.
AC Milan's willingness to offer Jackson the chance to play in Serie A could see him team back up with his old Chelsea teammate, but should that be the case, Max Allegri will certainly be expecting the pair to form a more explosive partnership than the one they produced in West London.
During his first season at AC Milan, Nkunku has managed to score just seven goals in 33 matches in all competitions.
