Following another disappointing season by Chelsea’s primary striker Nicolas Jackson, the Blues wasted no time and brought in Liam Delap to reinforce the position. Initially, the duo looked set to compete for a place in the starting XI. However, given the Senegal international’s failure to keep out of the referee's books time and again, as well as Christopher Nkunku's impending exit, the club might not be looking at bringing in another centre-forward
Chelsea have recently faced a series of challenges in the transfer market, with several top clubs joining the race for players the Blues have identified as key targets. As if things weren’t already difficult enough, another European giant has reached a personal agreement with one of their targets at striker.
Sky Sports reporter, Florian Plettenberg has recently confirmed that Bayern Munich and Woltemade have reached a full verbal agreement on a summer transfer. A long-term contract until 2030 with salary terms has already been agreed. There have been no negotiations between the clubs yet.
Bayern Munich reach personal agreement with Woltemade, also on Chelsea's shortlist
Woltemade has caught the eye of several top clubs with his performances this season, having scored 17 goals in 33 matches for VfB Stuttgart. Chelsea were also keeping an eye on the player, but the recent development will come as a major disappointment for the Blues.
This isn’t the first time in this transfer window that Bayern Munich have shown interest in a Chelsea target. They were recently also linked with Gittens, but he seems intent on a move to Stamford Bridge.
Aside from Woltemade, Chelsea have also been linked with strikers like Hugo Ekitike, Viktor Gyokeres, and Victor Osimhen, although there haven’t been any concrete developments regarding the transfer for any of those players. And the Blues are very quickly running out of options as they continue to watch their transfer targets join other teams.
