Chelsea have been linked with a number of players following the reopening of the summer transfer window, but the club have yet to bring in any new signings. Their only addition so far came in the form of Liam Delap but that was before the start of the ongoing Club World Cup in the United States.
Meanwhile, Chelsea have been pushing hard to finalise a deal for their top left winger target, Jamie Gittens. Despite three offers from the Blues to sign the player, Borussia Dortmund have so far refused to budge on their transfer valuation.
There have also been reports of interest from clubs like Arsenal and Bayern Munich recently, casting a shadow of uncertainty over the deal. However, it looks like the Blues can breathe a sigh of relief.
According to TBR Football, Gittens only wants to join one club. That is Chelsea. The player is focused on moving to Stamford Bridge this summer and has rebuffed interest from Arsenal and Bayern Munich in this window.
Gittens focussed only on a move to Chelsea
The Gittens deal is said to be in its final phase, with club-level talks currently underway between Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund. The Blues have already reached a personal agreement with the player on a seven-year deal, which was done before the start of the Club World Cup.
Gittens' arrival would provide a major boost to the squad. It currently lacks a natural left winger, posing a tactical challenge for Enzo Maresca.
With Gittens reaffirming his commitment to join the Blues, a deal may seem only a matter of time, but nothing can be said for certain until the signature is on paper. That said, fans have been eagerly waiting for this move for a long time, and they have reasons to believe that the wait is finally coming to an end.
